Boy, 2, Dies After More Than 5 Hours in Hot SUV

Silva-Tello arrived for work at Best Friends for Kidz, a Christian-based childcare and learning center located in the shopping plaza, on Tuesday at around 9:30 a.m. with Jacob in the auto, according to the sheriff's office, which also noted that she went into work and left the little boy unattended in the vehicle.

The reminder wasn't enough to save Jacob.

"With a handsome smile, he was always willing to help", the statement said.

Sheriff's Office spokesman Larry McKinnon declined to provide information about what detectives have learned about Silva-Tello's daily routine, how often she brought the boy to her workplace or whether he was enrolled there.

Silva-Tello returned from work to her SUV around 2:30 p.m. and found Jacob inside, unconscious, Bay News 9 reports. No charges have been filed against the young woman so far, as the Hillsborough County State Attorney's Office continues their portion of the inquiry.

McKinnon says Silva-Tello took the boy to a nearby dialysis center where first aid was administered. The little boy died at the hospital. The high temperature in the Brandon area reached the mid-80s on Tuesday.

"For some reason unknown at this time his sister made a tragic mistake", the BFF Kidz statement said.

A day care worker tells 10News that their hearts go out to the family as well. They're looking into whether child protective investigators have had prior contact with the family.
