Manchester City's Aleix Garcia eager to prove himself to Pep Guardiola

City travel to Middlesborough on the 11th of March for a quarterfinal tie and Guardiola has an excellent chance of winning a trophy in his maiden season in charge of the cash-rich club.

Manchester City on Wednesday recovered from an early blip to rout Championship side Huddersfield Town 5-1 in their FA Cup fifth round replay at the Etihad Stadium, booking quarterfinal date with Middlesborough in the process.

Bravo's poor start was unimportant in the end as City coasted into the FA Cup quarter-finals where they will meet Middlesbrough.

Two more City goals then followed in quick succession, firstly via a penalty from Sergio Aguero after Nicolás Otamendi was fouled in the box.

It was a display that had Guardiola purring. Leroy Sane and Kelechi Iheanacho also got on the scoresheet.

Uncertainty continues to surround the Argentine's future, however, with teenage Brazilian Gabriel Jesus having established himself as Pep Guardiola's first-choice centre-forward before his injury.

Flyers acquire F Filppula from Lightning for D Streit
Streit himself has 21 points in 49 games this year for the Flyers, but at age 39 is a lot slower than he used to be. He's signed through next season at a salary-cap hit of $5 million.

He said: "I really like that position because the manager gives me a lot of confidence and a lot of freedom".

"I saw in the past and I am pretty sure there are four of five guys who are coming to the next summer camp in the [United] States but it depends on them", he said.

The City striker now has 158 goals in 238 games, notes Henry Winter of The Times, and what's more "the 28-year-old is undeniably developing into an even greater, all-round threat under Guardiola".

But the morning after the night before it emerged that Aguero was still waiting to be personally informed that he remains part of Guardiola's plans.

"It is a breakthrough for the club to say that - but I do not want to think about what will happen to my future".

But he says it is hard to give too many youngsters an opportunity as he wants to win the trophy as well as challenge in the Champions League and Premier League. It's one thing for the club to officially say they want me, and another thing is to tell me.
