Groups Clash At President Trump Rally, 2 Arrested

Two different demonstrations occurred simultaneously Saturday afternoon, one supporting President Donald Trump and the other protesting against him.

"He does not hate Latinos, he does not hate Hispanics, he does not hate Mexicans", a woman who described herself as a Mexican-American supporter of Trump said, addressing the crowd from a small stage.

"He doesn't always have the kindler and gentler presentation, but you know what, if we want our country back again, we're not going to get it back by holding hands and singing 'We are the World, '" said Kaufmann. Smith and her husband brought their granddaughters to the event. She helped to organize the local rally Saturday.

"Just look at what President Trump has accomplished in weeks since Inauguration Day", Ruthie Hendrycks said. As allegations surrounding the administration's ties to Russian Federation and concerns about its ethical conduct continue to mount, those who still feel confident in the president's message used the day to highlight what they see as positive progress under Trump.

Saturday's demonstrations - which were meant to be small, according to the Main Street Patriots - come just one week after Trump tweeted something of a call for rallies backing his administration.

Rallies were scheduled in about 50 cities, including Las Vegas, according to organizers.

Military veteran Jeff Godines, of Davenport, also discussed his concerns about military readiness and President Trump's hopes and plans to restructure it. Another read: "Yes he is our president".

At Trump Tower, a couple hundred supporters gathered and chanted "U-S-A" and held signs with messages such as: "Yes he is our president".

Another rally in Rochester drew about 10 people, and no counterprotesters, the Rochester Post-Bulletin reported. Trump's motorcade briefly stopped so he could wave at supporters.

It's great to say we want to be a sanctuary city and things like that but I don't think it's good for America.

An estimated 1,200-1,500 attended the rally. Another group with pink masks carried shields with three arrows on them, calling themselves the "Pastel Bloc", and said they were there to counter any violence from "Black Bloc" protesters. Officers stopped a few attempts by some protesters to push their way into the pro-Trump rally, according to co-organizer Steve Gill. At least one arrest was made. Describing himself as a libertarian more than a conservative, he said he had seen what happened at the Milo Yiannopoulos protests in Berkeley on February 1.

Protesters rally to "March 4 Trump" in Denver, Colorado.

"You came here today because you were moved to come here and to tell Donald Trump you keep doing what you said you'd do in the campaign", Jeff Kaufmann, Chairman of the Iowa Republican Party, said. Draped in a Trump/Pence flag, Castro said she would like to see the media spend more time covering the president's allegations of Obama's wrongdoings.

At a park in Berkeley, across the bay from San Francisco, protesters from both sides struck one another over the head with wooden sticks and Trump supporters fired pepper spray as police in riot gear stood at a distance.

Supporters of President Donald Trump gathered at Mount Trashmore to show their pride in his presidency Saturday.

The violence comes a month after mask-wearing protesters at the University of California, Berkeley, shut down a planned speech by a far-right speaker by lighting fires and smashing windows. "Protesters spilled out into Martin Luther King Junior Way and were fighting in the middle of the street, and there were people punching each other on the sidewalks".
