Muslim teen found hanged in woods hadn't attended school for 3 weeks

Keita, who was reported missing in November, disappeared without his auto, wallet or phone.

The family found the approach "alarming", he said.

In what was originally ruled as a suicide, the death of a black Muslim teenager in Washington State is now to be investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as something more.

The tree where the body was is about 12 to 14 feet from a trail, and "maybe 10 feet at most from the nearest backyard fence", Bukhari said.

"Although at the autopsy I did not see any evidence of trauma beyond the evidence of hanging, the circumstances of the very high tree branch, uncertain location of the decedent for the 6 weeks prior to discovery (with a report that the area where the body was found had been previously searched), and lack of any reported suicidal ideation or attempts makes a definitive classification of the manner as suicide uncertain".

The report contains different estimates of the height of the branch.

The family has complaints about the initial investigation as well, saying that there were several of Keita's coworkers that were not questioned by police in addition to several other concerns.

The Council of American-Islamic Relations are representing the family in their request that the FBI open an investigation, the group said at a news conference Tuesday alongside Keita's family.

Final: Blazers Finally Win Down The Stretch, Beat Thunder 114-109
With less than six minutes left in the game, Oklahoma City led Portland 101-94 before the Trail Blazers went on a 16 point streak. The Portland Trail Blazers couldn't contain Russell Westbrook for three quarters, but they made plays when needed Thursday night.

"Today we are careful not to rush to judgment", said the Rev. Kele Brown, of the Plymouth Congregational Church in Seattle, at the press conference.

In a statement, Lake Stevens Police Chief John Dyer asked for any information, no matter how small or seemingly trivial, that might help give police a better idea of what happened in the days leading to Keita's death.

"Ben was a happy young man", Ibrahima Keita told Q13 FOX.

"There are many things that we want to find out about", he said.

"The FBI is communicating with our police partners", the group said in a statement.

Ayn Dietrich-Williams, a spokeswoman for the FBI's Seattle Division, confirmed that the agency will review Keita's death.

In a news release Thursday, the Lake Stevens Police Department said, "Early in the investigation we discovered that, unknown to the family, Ben did not go to work on November 25 or 26, and had not been to school for about three weeks". A spokesperson for the FBI's Seattle office told the paper it was doing a review but that would not automatically lead to an investigation.
