Israel warns Syria after exchange of fire

Recent, in mid-January, Israeli forces hit the Mezzeh Military Airport west of Damascus, with the facility rocked by several explosions according to RT. At that time, Israeli officials would not say when the missile would become operational.

The Lebanese news channel NBN had reported that the man killed was a Syrian air defense commander. Two others are said to have landed in Israel.

After a number of anti-aircraft missiles were fired from Syria, rocket sirens sounded in Israeli settlements in the Jordan Valley.

Today's statement made no mention of retaliatory strikes, and an IDF officer confirmed to Defense News that airstrikes were against "strategic assets of Hezbollah" far north of the Israel-Syria-Jordan border.

A rare clash between Israel and Syria occurred early Friday morning after Israeli warplanes struck several targets inside Syria, with Syria retaliating with a salvo of ground-to-air missiles. In retaliation the jets were targeted by Syrian anti-aircraft missiles with one of the Israeli fight planes shot down.

Russia, which backs Syria's embattled president, Bashar Assad, summoned its envoy, Gary Koren, on Friday less than 24 hours after the Israeli military action on Thursday night, according to The Times of Israel.

We've just got to roll with it. "They can test you in a lot of ways - their spacing, their shooting, their driving". San Antonio Spurs fans had to be thrilled to see their best player, Kawhi Leonard, back in the lineup yesterday.

Syria's military said it had downed one of the Israeli planes and hit another as they were carrying out the pre-dawn strikes near the famed desert city of Palmyra that it recaptured from jihadists this month.

Hezbollah's Secretary-General also addressed the Syrian civil war, saying: "After six years of war in Syria, the countries and global forces that devised the plot against Syria are faced with the bloody reality, which is a disappointment and a failure". "Every time we identify a transfer like this, we will work to prevent the transfer of game-changing weapons. On this there will be no compromise", Lieberman said Sunday.

"The Syrians must understand that they are held responsible for these arms transfers to Hezbollah and that if they continue to allow them then we will do what we have to do".

It comes less than 10 days after the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin.

Nevertheless, analysts said the incident represented a significant shift in Syria's response to Israeli airstrikes inside its territory.
