FBI Director James Comey has 'no information' to support Trump's wiretap claims

National Security Agency (NSA) director Admiral Mike Rogers, who was also at the packed hearing, strongly rebutted the suggestion repeated by Mr Trump's administration that the agency had asked Britain's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) intelligence agency to spy on the US President.

Rep. Adam Schiff, the California Democrat and ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee, said in his lengthy opening statement that Trump's wiretapping allegation against Obama is "slanderous".

"With respect to the president's tweets about alleged wiretapping directed at him by the prior administration, I have no information that supports those tweets", Comey told a congressional hearing on Monday. "That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia's efforts". Director James Comey confirmed Monday that the FBI is investigating this question, which means the agency has at least some incriminating evidence.

By the time Comey announced no charges would be laid against Clinton, the damage was done and Clinton's seven-point advantage did its mandatory circling of the bowl before being flushed away.

The Senate Intelligence Committee, also run by Republicans, is also looking into the matter of Russian interference in the election.

In a major moment of Trump's presidency, Comey confirmed that there is an active investigation into whether there are "any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign" and Russians who meddled in the USA election.

I suppose this makes sense - if they were allowed to review everything, there could be a problem with game length. That's an automatic technical foul in any situation, but the coach really did have a reason to be upset.

The director also told the House intelligence committee the bureau has found "no information" to support President Trump's tweet claiming that Barack Obama wiretapped his home at Trump Tower.

"The response from Spicer lasted approximately nine minutes and involved the press secretary repeating the accusation of possible links between the Trump campaign and Russian Federation, which the intelligence committees have not said they have evidence to support".

He also noted the allegations against Russian Federation are not surprising. "We have been closely monitoring Russia's aggressions for years", Nunes said. The morning show's biggest fan, President Donald Trump, 70, tweeted about that very subject in the early hours. "But the Obama administration was committed to the notion, against all evidence, that we could "reset" relations with Putin, and it routinely ignored our warnings".

Russian Federation has repeatedly denied attempting to influence the results by hacking Democratic operatives and releasing embarrassing information.

"As you know, our practice is not to confirm the existence of ongoing investigations, especially those investigations that involve classified matters". After their successful interference on the Democratic process, Russian hackers are primed for a comeback in future elections, he said.

Mr Comey was the latest United States government official to reject Mr Trump's claims, made without any evidence, that Mr Obama had wiretapped his NY skyscraper during the campaign.
