Bruins coach Cassidy ready to return to playoffs

"He could play tomorrow", Senators coach Guy Boucher said. "The two goals they're just giveaway, after giveaway, after giveaway". The negative goal differential thing is significant, but had Anderson not missed large chunks of the season to be with his wife during her cancer battle, Ottawa might well be a plus team.

The Senators will look to even the series Saturday afternoon at Canadian Tire Centre. Senators defenseman Marc Methot took the pre-game warmup but did not play. If you don't have a shooting mentality against a good goalie like Rask, and he sees all the pucks and there's not a lot of them, you're probably not going to score any.

Frank Vatrano scored at 4:05 and Brad Marchand netted the victor with 2:33 left as the Bruins erased a lead Bobby Ryan provided the Senators when they outshot their opponents 12-0 in the middle 20 minutes.

"I thought he was terrific", said Boston coach Bruce Cassidy. They'll head into Game 2 with a victory on their hands, and one that didn't have to go to extra minutes - which, for a while, looked like a strong possibility. "We didn't change our game plan whatsoever, we didn't want something different at all, but I think we didn't manage it well mentally".

"Two shifts where we had the puck on many occasions and we had done well before ... so we gave it away".

"I don't really think about the ice time or the numbers; I kind of just sit there and wait for Coach to call my name", McAvoy, who admitted that he was nervous on his first shift, said after the win. "They don't give up a lot".

To be rested Monday vs. Heat
Many of them blamed the refs for some questionable calls at the end of regulation and in overtime. I like the Cavaliers to not only cover the spread in this game, but to win it outright.

Westbrook ties triple-double mark; Thunder top Bucks 110-79
After the six games win out of last ten in this season's end. "It has helped our team, and I think the record speaks for itself". Westbrook has similar averages this season, logging in 31.9 points, 10.6 rebounds and 10.4 assists with five games left.

I am not happy with life in London - Chelsea striker Diego Costa
It's good to play with this pressure because it means we are fighting for titles and trying to stay up there. Costa has struggled for form of late and has just three goals in 10 appearances in 2017.

This series could genuinely go either way, despite Ottawa having home-ice advantage in the best-of-7 series. It took Boston until almost five minutes into the third period to respond, though, because they failed to record a single shot on goal in the second, giving themselves exactly zero opportunity to tie the game up.

Ryan cut across the crease and fanned on his first shot-thanks to the ridiculous reach of Zdeno Chara, who's seven feet tall on skates-but Ryan kept with the puck as he cut across the front of the net, and from a bad angle, he wristed a shot past Rask. The United States doesn't win the World Juniors and Boston University doesn't make it out of the first round of the NCAA tournament without him. To me, it was the only glaring and notable hole in Ottawa's opening game, and if that's the case, there's still some real opportunity to survive and advance.

By not pushing hard enough, the Senators failed to exploit a severely injury-depleted Bruins defence.

As seen in last night's game, Colin Miller took knee-on-knee contact with Ottawa' Mark Borowiecki, writhing on the ice in pain. Miller returned to the game later in the period.

"I've tried to put that behind me, but it is tough when it's your own city that you grew up in and people start getting on you and your team", he said Thursday as the Senators began preparations to try and even up the series on Saturday. Nick Bonino and Bryan Rust also scored, and Evgeni Malkin assisted on Rust and Kessel's goals in his first game back after missing the final three weeks of the regular season because of an upper-body injury. Other significant Senators scratches were wing Ryan Dzingel, center Chris Kelly, wing Chris Neil, defenseman Ben Harpur and center Colin White.
