Hip-hop artist Tory Lanez faces gun, pot charge in Florida

At the time of his arrest, Lanez did not have a concealed weapons permit, Miramar Police Detective Carlos Villalona said Thursday.

The Sun Sentinel reports that Miramar police pulled over the 24-year-old Brampton, Ont., native on Wednesday afternoon for an expired dealer tag on a 2014 Rolls-Royce.

Tory Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson was arrested in Florida on Wednesday and faces gun and drug possession charges. Cops conducted a search of his vehicle and found that he was carrying a concealed weapon and has a small quantity of marijuana in his auto.

So, Peterson was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, misdemeanor marijuana possession and was cited for failure to register a motor vehicle, driving without a license and failure to provide proof of insurance.

As Tory Lanez, he was nominated in 2016 for Best New Artist by the Soul Train Music Awards and the BET Awards. His songs "Say it" and "LUV" have both been popular on the radio. He is scheduled to be on Future's Nobody's Safe tour with Migos, Kodak Black, Young Thug, and A$AP Ferg. He was taken to jail after the incident but was released after posting $1,000 bond. His album I Told You debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 a year ago. The tour is set to start in Memphis on May 4.
