Georgia cop fired for stomping handcuffed Black man in the face

Michael Bongiovanni (left) and Master Police Officer Robert McDonald (right) were fired after video showed them punching and kicking a stopped motorist.

Two white police officers in Gwinnett County, Georgia, were kicked off the force Thursday, after videos surfaced showing them beating a black motorist during a Wednesday traffic stop, CNN reported.

The video shows another officer pulling the man out of a vehicle during a traffic stop. The incident was captured on cellphone video by a witness stuck behind the stopped auto and the police vehicle. "As he stands with his hands up, [Sergeant] Michael Bongiovanni strikes the man in the face", the police said in a statement.

Now, the officers have been fired and could face criminal charges.

"The revelations uncovered in this investigation are shocking to me and my command staff", Ayers said. Both will be turned over to the Gwinnett County District Attorney's office.

"The fact that these guys felt so brazen as to. assault him in public in broad daylight in front of hundreds of onlookers and hundreds of cars is indicative of what they think is OK".

"I ordered Hollins out of the vehicle".

Police said Hollins was pulled over for having a broken taillight and later resisted arrest.

The sad news was personally confirmed by Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy at the " Star Wars Celebration " on Friday, April 14. Earlier in the day at a panel at the Star Wars Celebration fan event, Hamill admits that he "lies all the time".

The officer then realized he had arrested Hollins in August 2016 for having marijuana and a loaded gun in the auto.

McDonald, who's been on the force for three years and named Officer of the Month in November 2015, appeared to be imitating the gruesome scene in American History X where Ed Norton Jr's character did the same to another black man. At one point, Hollins reached under a seat where officers later found a gun. A working phone number couldn't immediately be located for him, and it wasn't clear whether he has an attorney who could comment.

According to the person who filmed the video, who handed over their footage to the Greater Atlanta chapter of Black Lives Matter shortly after the incident, "blood splattered everywhere" when the second officer kicked Hollins in the face. In his report, Bongiovanni wrote that Hollins' vehicle didn't have a license plate and that the driver had switched lanes multiple times without signaling.

Hollins was approached by reporters outside the county jail, where he was released on $7,500 bail.

"It shouldn't have happened", Ayers said McDonald told him.

The chief said he was disturbed by what he saw in the videos and by the actions of his officers.

On Wednesday afternoon, officer Robert McDonald responded to assist a supervisor with a traffic stop. Miller said they are now waiting on the police department's next move.
