Trump reverses himself on NATO, China, Russia and more

His most dramatic u-turn was on Nato, which he declared is "no longer obsolete" during a joint news conference with visiting Nato Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

America's relationship with Russian Federation "may be at an all-time low", US President Donald Trump has said, but he hoped that it would be wonderful if the two countries got along. I said it was obsolete; it's no longer obsolete.

Trump was speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday alongside Stoltenberg after giving him a warm welcome and praising the organization as "the bulwark of worldwide peace and security". We see this commitment not only in words, but also in deeds.

He said at a November 2015 primary debate: "I got to know him very well because we were both on 60 Minutes, we were stablemates, and we did very well that night".

Trump's remarks come as his administration criticised Russia's support for Syrian leader President Bashar al-Assad and questioned the Kremlin's interference in elections in Montenegro.

Trump has said he has struck up "very good bonding" and "a very good chemistry" with Xi. He had been severe about its lack focus on terrorism. And when other countries give it, we lose a tremendous amount of business.

The NATO Secretary-General made these comments during the discussion of "Future of NATO" at the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University in the USA yesterday. "And I think that based on everything I'm hearing, things went pretty well, maybe better than anticipated", Trump said.

Breathtaking photos show massive icebergs floating by a seaside town
Ferryland town in Newfoundland has a new visitor - a massive iceberg - that has become the talking point in and around Canada. The International Ice Patrol said 648 icebergs have been seen in the trans-Atlantic shipping lanes as of this week.

During the presidential campaign, Mr Trump promised to label China a currency manipulator on his first day in office.

Mr Trump told the newspaper he had changed his mind because China has not been manipulating its currency for months.

Trump and Stoltenberg agreed that other member nations must satisfy their responsibility to contribute two per cent of the GDP to defence.

It may not be a coincidence that Trump's adoption of conventional political positions came the day after a stunning interview with the New York Post in which he publicly criticized his political guru Stephen Bannon, his insurgent, populist political conscience.

Trump said it was possible Russian Federation knew the Khan Shaykhun attack in advance as he responded to questions following the news conference.

Trump also thanked North Atlantic Treaty Organisation members for condemning Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's use of chemical weapons and "the barbaric killing of small and helpless children and babies".

Trump now: "I will tell you what, I was very much opposed to Ex-Im Bank because I said what do we need that for IBM and for General Electric and all these", he told The Wall Street Journalon Wednesday.
