The spacecraft lifted off into the sky from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 1:13pm local time (07:13 GMT) and reached orbit just nine minutes into flight.

Baikonur: Russia's Soyuz MS-04 spacecraft has been launched to International Space Station (ISS) from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

Two new crew members are aboard the International Space Station.

After a little over a week with just four crew members on board the Space Station, the Expedition 51 is now complete. A few moments later, antennas and both two solar panels unfolded and locked in place. This photo shows space shuttle Atlantis, which operated until 2011, docking onto the space station.
